The lowest premium is not always the best match. Compare the coverage, limits, deductibles, and exclusions behind the price.

Liability

Helps pay for injuries or property damage you cause to others. Most states require a minimum amount.

Collision

Helps repair or replace your car after a covered crash, usually after your deductible.

Comprehensive

Helps with theft, weather, fire, glass, vandalism, and other covered non-collision losses.

Uninsured motorist

Can help when another driver has no insurance or not enough insurance, depending on your state.

Medical payments or PIP

Can help with medical costs after a covered accident. Some states require specific personal injury protection.

Deductibles

A higher deductible may lower the premium, but it means more out of pocket when you file a claim.

Good comparison habit

Compare equal coverage levels.

A cheap quote can look attractive because it has lower liability limits, no rental coverage, a higher deductible, or fewer protections. When you compare, try to keep coverage settings similar so the price difference is meaningful.

Ask before you choose

What is my deductible? Are my limits enough? Does the policy cover the drivers and vehicles I need? What discounts are included?
